How about taking a language course in Italian in Sicily itself? The town of Taormina is located on the hillside of the island’s east coast, and offers narrow alleys, cosy restaurants, stunning sea views; and Mount Etna volcano as a backdrop. In Taormina you are mostly “left” to Italians, English skills are a bit limited, and your opportunities to really get yourself into the language are very good.
The Taormina is sunny and the sea is crystal clear and excellent for snorkelling. The city is high and airy and you can either stroll along the winding road down to the sea, or even easier; hop on the cable car which takes you down the hillside in three minutes.
The ice cream bars in the city are many, and the pistachio ice must be tried, because Sicily is the “home” of the pistachio! The course price includes an activity program with at least 5 guaranteed activities per week, such as film, theatre, lectures on Italian culture, restaurant visits etc. In addition, excursions are organised in the area around Taormina and the rest of the island on weekends and afternoons.

Accommodation
Italian host family (or single lady) with breakfast or half board. Often, the accommodation is characterised by a small guest house with several boarding students.
